Engagement and Explanation Letter
for Telehealth Quality Improvement Project
Title of Project: Optimizing Transgender Healthcare through Telehealth Virtual Visits
This project relates to improving telehealth encounters via virtual visits. The purpose of this project is to explore the connection between providing preparatory information via text and video activities and the quality of care experienced through telehealth appointments. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the quality improvement factors that can be initiated to impart confidence and culturally competent care with regard to telehealth encounters. Specifically, this project will study virtual visits between transgender patients and providers so that healthful and positive outcomes may be realized and sustained.
For this study, you will be presented with information relevant to your engagement with SPEKTRUM Health Clinic's telehealth process. You will be asked to voluntarily view a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Sheet, or watch a short tutorial video, but you can also do both. Then, you will be asked to answer some questions about these experiences relative to your virtual visit. You can complete all tasks related to this study remotely from a cell phone, a mobile device, or a desktop/laptop.
To participate, you will be instructed to click an URL that will be embedded in a telehealth appointment confirmation email from SPEKTRUM Health. This URL will connect you to an Anonymous Link serviced by Qualtrics Research Software. Access to the materials related to your participation will be provided by the Anonymous Link including the FAQ sheet, the tutorial video, and the questionnaire. Your responses will be kept completely confidential. The survey will not disclose or store your name and your email address will not be recorded.
No identifiable information will be collected or stored regarding your personal information. Your identity will remain completely confidential. The Anonymous Link serviced by Qualtrics Research Software will not collect identifying information such as your name or email address. However, by default, your IP address and location data will become known to your healthcare provider and the chief investigator. Data gathered from the survey will be securely stored by Qualtrics until the end of the project, which is December 31, 2020. The chief investigator and your healthcare provider and the clinic staff will have access to survey results, but no identifiers will be associated with the results.
